The children thoroughly enjoyed participating in our Bear Hunt sensory walk within the forest garden. As we read the story together, they explored each stage through a sensory walk experience, bringing the narrative to life.
The children enthusiastically journeyed through water and other story settings before finally discovering the bear.
Excitement quickly turned to laughter as they hurried back indoors, recreating the story’s dramatic ending.
At nursery, we have celebrated National Sports Week with a fun-filled day dedicated to promoting healthy lifestyles, physical activity and inspiring a love of sport from an early age.
We believe that introducing children to exercise and movement during their early years helps to build positive habits that can last a lifetime. Sport not only supports children’s physical development but also helps to improve confidence, teamwork, communication skills and overall wellbeing.

At our nursery, we believe every child’s voice matters. Recently, our children took part in a Nursery Council session where they had the opportunity to share their thoughts and ideas—just like a real council! The focus of this discussion was something very important to them: food.
On Saturday 7 February 2026 we were very fortunate to be joined by educator, author and champion storyteller, Neil Griffiths.
Together We Raised £2,000 for BBC Children in Need! 
We’re so proud to share that our Orange Tree family has raised an amazing £2,000 for BBC Children in Need this year!
On Saturday 27 September we welcomed all of our staff teams to celebrate our Annual Awards night! This year we had a Movie Night theme and all of our teams really went to town..... From our Derby "Barbies" to our maintenance team "Men in Black" everyone was red carpet ready with the glittering awards awaiting their worthy winners....

On Friday 1 March The Orange Tree Day Nurseries were delighted to welcome Maria Hanson (MBE) to receive a fundraising cheque of £2,238 for Derby based me & dee charity, dedicated to supporting families facing life-limiting, life-shortening, or terminal health conditions.
