Outstanding OFSTED Report

On the 19th February 2019 we had our routine inspection, and we are extremely proud and pleased to be able to confirm that Ofsted have rated us outstanding in all areas!

Our Nursery

DSC_4075.jpgAt The Orange Tree Day Nursery we have made sure that when you visit our nursery you will feel warm and at home.  Whilst at our day nursery your child will be part of a small family group looked after by an experienced and familiar key person.

Your key person is an essential part of our nursery experience. Both you and your child will develop a relationship with your key person helping to promote positive communication. Your child's key person will track their development and ensure that they are provided with planned activities that will challenge and excite them to achieve their next steps and make the most of their potential. All our children are encouraged to share, be kind and play with each other. This helps to develop the communication skills necessary for your child to thrive in school and at home.

Meal times are a special time where positive social skills are encouraged and older children have opportunity to self manage.  Most of all we have fun, if children feel happy, secure and challenged they will naturally develop into confident well rounded young people.

Our Baby Suite

Baby Suite_0.jpgOur beautiful Baby Suite is a place of peace and tranquillity where your baby will be treasured and nurtured by passionate highly skilled practitioners.  Babies are constantly stimulated with music and singing, sensory experiences and heuristic play.

Babies have their own protected out door space where they can play in the fresh air whilst watching the older children at play.

Our cook provides healthy nutritious meals which are planned carefully to specifically meet our babies dietary needs.

Our Wise Owls Unit for 3-5 Year Olds

Owls Early Years.jpgOur Pre-School  is led by a qualified teacher, activities are planned to incorporate play led learning whilst continuing to focus on your child's emotional needs. We strive to encourage your child to develop confidence, independance and to be sociable and happy.  Skills that will enable them to ask questions, find the answers and have the ability to manage future challenges. Our low 1:8 staff ratios will ensure your child has one to one adult attention should they require support.  By capturing your child's interest and enthusiasm together we will see them flourish.

Our IT Suite encourages children to develop skills and a sound understanding of  how to use technology and gadgets.

Life Outdoors

DSC_3931_0.jpgOur Nottingham Day Nursery is blessed with an amazing outdoor space which provides fantastic learning and challenging opportunities to our children.   Children enjoy being outdoors in all weather, they enjoy building snowmen in the Winter, sweeping and collecting leaves in the Autumn and picnics and sports days in the Spring and Summer.DSC_3947_0.jpg

Children learn about their environment, bird watching, nature trails, and growing their own vegetables.

Equipment provides physical challenge and our 1st Ball Sport sessions promote their gross motor skills and co-ordination.

Out of School & Holiday Club

Cheering Children.jpgWe all know that childcare doesn't stop when your child goes to school and it can be necessary to arrange care for them before and/or after school and also in the holidays when you still have to work.

Our out of school areas have been designed specifically for children who attend school and when school is out can relax with friends, take part in some fun activities and enjoy trips to places of interest.  Children are able to access our amazing outdoor space at all times.

We offer breakfast club from 7:30am and then take the children safely to school.  After school we will collect your child and provide their tea.  Our holiday club is available for various sessions including mornings, afternoons, full days, short days or full weeks to suit your requirements.

Activities/Parent Partnership

During the very difficult times of the Covid-19 pandemic we have been setting small tasks to keep our children learning and having fun at home.

Here are some of the activities we set at nursery and home!

For this activity we enjoyed pretending to be doctors and nurses and taking turns to   look after each other. We discussed how amazing our NHS service is and how us   staying home and washing our hands is helping our doctors and nurses to keep   everyone protected and safe.

medium_handwashing.pngThis activity is a fun way to teach children about the importance of hand washing and getting rid of our germs. We used gloves which we then drew lines on with felt tip and had water and soap so that the children could move the gloves around in the water and clean the germs away. We then spoke about when we need to wash our hands and how important it is, especially at the moment, to ensure we are regularly washing our hands to keep ourselves and others safe from germs.

medium_bear hunt.pngThis activity is fun and interactive. We have created our own ‘We’re going on a bear hunt’ tuff spot. The children enjoyed exploring the different sensory bottles and resources for each part of the story as we made our way to the cave and the bear! Story time is so important and making it fun and enjoyable for all allows for creativity and for your child to use their imagination as they swirl through the snow storm and the swishy, swashy grass.

This week we have enjoyed taking part in ‘wacky experiments’. We enjoyed using the resources below to mix together and cause an eruption like a volcano. The children loved helping to mix the resources together and then add different colours and watch as the solution erupted. We then discussed what would happen if we mixed the colours and enjoyed seeing what colours we could make.

How to Find Us

The nursery is located in the old Beardall Primary School, which is a beautiful setting where children can experience amazing outdoor challenges with opportunities to explore and learn about nature and the environment in which they live. The nursery is nestled near the centre of Hucknall just off Watnall Road. The nursery provides a private car park with plenty of space.

What do Ofsted think?

Ofsted say our nursery is 'OUTSTANDING' in all areas.

This is just a snippet of what Ofsted said about us:-

- Partnerships with parents are exceptional. Staff involve parents in every aspect of their child's learning in the nursery and at home. They recognise that successful partnership working has a positive impact on children's learning and development.

- Staff provide children with an extremely stimulating environment indoors and outdoors that helps children to be highly motivated and confident in their play. Children are inquisitive, curious, very well behaved and have an extremely positive attitude to their learning.

- The level of the children's mathematical knowledge is astonishing.

- Staff place a high priority on keeping children safe. They have an excellent understanding about how to protect children from abuse and neglect and the procedures to follow if they are concerned about a child.

-Throughout the nursery, children demonstrate a real sense of belonging. They sharetheir photograph books of family with each other and talk about similarities and differences. Staff maintain inspirationally positive relationships with children. They get to know them exceptionally well from the outset. Children are extremely settled and confident and develop incredible levels of well-being and self-worth. Behaviour
throughout the nursery is impeccable.
